Parvathi Mahabala Shetty Charitable Trust
Our Story
Did you know that we only have one eye doctor serving more than 10,000 people in our villages? This has made access to even
basic eye care services extremely difficult for the underprivileged sections of society. As a result even simple diseases like
refractive errors ,Vitamin A deficiency, cataract and easily treatable minor eye injuries remain unattended leading to great suffering
and financial burden to the individuals and their families .
It was with a view to help reduce this disparity that Parvathi Mahabala Shetty Charitable Trust was formed inSeptember 2012 by
the children and grandchildren of the individuals the trust is named after .Parvathi Mahabala Shetty Memorial Eye Hospital , a
secondary care eye hospital with fully equipped out-patient and surgical facilities ,was inaugurated on the 2nd of February 2014
and has is delivering high quality medical and surgical services to the people in and around Shiroor village.
